Humanitarian Aid and Bible Review

It has been a busy week as we approach Thanksgiving Break! For social studies, students have been working hard on researching a specific humanitarian aid organization. They have been using the chromebooks to research information, and they have been organizing that information on posters.

We also had a Bible test on Friday, and the students rocked it out during a Bible Jeopardy review game. For Final Jeopardy, the students were challenged to name all ten plagues. All groups did well, but only one group named all ten!

Last week of School!

We made it! There were lots of activities scheduled for the last week of school, and we really enjoyed our time together. First, the students acted out parts of the Bible story where Lazarus is raised from the dead. In addition, I had a great birthday celebration on the 4th! I am so thankful for all of the gifts and cards I received; the kids made my day! We even had a countdown to the exact time I was born (9:39 AM) :)  On Wednesday, we had a "Word Game" day where students played Boggle, Madlibs, Upwards, and Scrabble with a certain group. Students were able to rotate around and try out each of the games.  We also finished up our 3D figures math unit by measuring different figures and finding the surface area, volume, and other attributes of the solids. Students worked in partners for this activity. Students helped out Mr. Cox by pulling staples from New Testament booklets that are going to the jail ministry through Forgotte

Fun in Grade 6

It's been a blast in 6th grade so far! Here are some of the highlights from the past few weeks:  Everyone worked hard getting in their laps during the Fun Run on Friday, September 21! In social studies, students used magazines to put together collages for the five themes of geography.  We used playdough to model plains, mountains, and plateaus. We also measured their elevation and relief.  We celebrated all of the pledges with donuts and cider!

News in Grade 6

We loved our limo ride and lunch to Pizza Hut this week! Thanks for all the support for the Fun Run. Here are some pictures from our experience.  We've also been hard at work! The kids worked together on science workbook activities as we explored the ocean and types of water.  In religion, each student became an "expert" on one of the plagues that stuck Egypt. We discussed Moses' response to God and Pharaoh's response to God.  Stay tuned for more pictures coming soon!
